MOUAU Specialized Postgraduate Programmes Admission 2023

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) is inviting applications from suitable candidates for admission into specialized postgraduate programmes for the 2022/2023 session at its Centre of Excellence in Root Crop Research and Development (CERCORD). The Centre, a Tetfund Centre of Excellence, offers Masters and Doctorate degrees in areas like Food Processing, Crop Improvement, Farm Mechanization, and Agripreneurship. Eligible candidates from all nationalities can apply via the MOUAU Portal.

The Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has opened applications for admission into postgraduate training programmes at the Centre of Excellence in Root Crop Research and Development (CERCORD), one of the Tetfund Centres of Excellence (TCOEs). Suitably qualified candidates of all nationalities are invited to apply.

Programmes Offered

CERCORD offers specialised postgraduate courses leading to the award of Masters (M.Sc/M.Engr.) and Doctorate (PhD) degrees. The courses are designed to combine academic and entrepreneurial skills with demand-driven research in the following areas:Food Processing and Postharvesting Technology (M.Sc & Ph.D)
Crop Improvement and Production (M.Sc & Ph.D)
Farm Mechanization and Automation (M.Eng & Ph.D)
Agriprenuership and Sustainable Technology Transfer (M.Sc & Ph.D)

The M.Sc programmes are open to all graduates of B.Sc. Food Sc. &Tech., B. Tech (Food Sc. &Tech), B. Agric, B.Sc Agric, B. Tech Agric and B. Eng Agric. with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 5-point scale. Holders of PGD in any of the relevant disciplines with a minimum of Upper Credit (or CGPA of 3.0 on a 5 Point scale) are also eligible.

The PhD programme is open to Master degree holders in courses relevant to the different options in the programme.

The M.Sc programmes run for four semesters, including coursework and dissertation, with 2-3 months of internship in collaborating industries, parastatals and institutions. The PhD programmes, mainly research-based, span six semesters, also with 2-3 months of internship.
Fees and Application Method

While the programmes are tuition-free, other charges outside tuition fees apply in line with MOUAU postgraduate requirements. To apply, visit the MOUAU Portal, click on Registration, New Student Registration, and then “CERCORD”. The application fee is N25,000. After payment, use your CAN number to continue with your application.

Applicants must request their respective institutions to forward their academic transcripts directly to The Admin Lead, CERCORD, MOUAU. A soft copy should also be sent to [email protected].
