Eid-El-Adha Holidays: GSU Extends Break for Staff & Students


In celebration of Eid-elAdha, Gombe State University (GSU) follows the Federal Government's declaration, setting June 28th to 30th, 2023, as public holidays. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty, extends joyous wishes to the university community, particularly Muslim faithful. Normal operations resume on July 3rd, 2023.




Gombe State University (GSU), Gombe, has confirmed its observance of the forthcoming public holidays as declared by the Federal Government. These holidays – Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th, and Friday 30th June 2023 – have been designated to celebrate Eid-El-Adha, an important festival in the Muslim calendar. GSU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty, extends warm wishes for happy and joyous celebrations to the entire University Community, particularly the Muslim faithful.

Federal Government’s Declaration of Public Holidays

The Federal Government has, in customary fashion, declared three days of public holidays across the nation to mark Eid-El-Adha, one of the holiest celebrations in Islam. The dates for the public holidays are Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th, and Friday 30th June 2023.
GSU’s Compliance with the Public Holiday Announcement

In line with the Federal Government’s announcement, Gombe State University is set to observe the public holidays. The University’s Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty, has confirmed this to the University Community. This decision reflects GSU’s commitment to celebrating the diverse cultural and religious backgrounds of its students and staff.
Eid-El-Adha Wishes from GSU’s Vice-Chancellor

Professor Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty, the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, has expressed his best wishes for the upcoming celebration. In a special message, he has wished the entire University Community, and especially the Muslim faithful, a happy and joyous Eid-El-Adha. Resumption of Normal Work on Monday, 3rd July 2023

After observing the three-day public holiday in honour of Eid-El-Adha, normal work and academic activities will resume at GSU on Monday, 3rd July 2023. This is expected to give all staff and students ample time to observe the holiday, take a break from their routine, and gear up for the tasks and responsibilities awaiting them upon their return.
