COOU Gets Full Accreditation Status for 20 Programmes



Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) achieved Full Accreditation in 20 programmes in the 2022/2023 NUC Accreditation Exercise, showcasing its commitment to academic excellence.



Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, popularly known as the University of Pride, has achieved remarkable success in the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) 2022/2023 Accreditation Exercise held in November/December 2022. The University has earned “Full Accreditation” status in 20 of its departments, reflecting its dedication to providing high-quality education and shaping future professionals.

Accreditation Results and Details

In a memo dated 9th March 2023, delivered to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Greg Nwakoby, and signed by Arc. S.S Ikani, Deputy Director, Programme Accreditation on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, it was revealed that 20 out of 21 programs assessed in the exercise received “Full Accreditation” status.

Public Administration
Theater Arts
English Language
Business Education
Computer Science Education
Integrated Science
Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Mechanical Engineering

Pure & Industrial Chemistry
Mass Communication
Interim Status in Medicine and Surgery

Although the Medicine and Surgery department received an “Interim status,” the Commission has assured that this will not affect the admission of students into the program within the years under review. The “interim status” indicates that the Commission will revisit the program in the next two years.
Vice Chancellor’s Reaction and Commitment

In response to the accreditation results, Prof. Greg Nwakoby, the Vice Chancellor of COOU, expressed gratitude to the National Universities Commission for their diligence in managing university programs across Nigeria. Prof. Nwakoby reaffirmed the University’s commitment to training future professionals for the country and society at large. He further assured that he will work tirelessly to address any areas requiring improvement, ensuring that all standards are met and maintained.
