Programmes on Offer

Online applications are set to commence on Wednesday, 26th July 2023, culminating on Friday, 22nd September 2023. During this period, aspiring students have the opportunity to enrol in one of the following full-time HND courses:Nautical Science
Marine Engineering
Maritime Transport and Business Management
Correspondence Procedure

Physical appearances are not mandatory unless an invitation is extended via the official website or through e-mail/text notifications.
Academic Prerequisites
1. Standard Requirements for SSCE/ND

Each course has specific academic prerequisites:
A. Nautical Science

i) Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) Requirements:Must possess SSCE or its equivalent.
Must have a minimum of FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which include:Mathematics
English Language
Physics
Geography
Any other related science subjects
Achievements must be obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

ii) National Diploma (ND) Requirements:Must possess National Diploma Certificate in Nautical Science.
Must have a CGPA of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or a recognized institution.
Must be accredited by the NBTE and listed with JAMB.
Applicants must have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii) Work Experience:Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or;
Must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience.

iv) For PASS Grade ND Holders:Must have completed a minimum of two (2) years post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or;
Must have acquired a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience.
B. Marine Engineering

i) SSCE Requirements:Must possess SSCE or its equivalent.
Must have a minimum of FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which include:Mathematics
English Language
Physics
Chemistry
Any other related science subjects
Achievements must be obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

ii) ND Requirements:Must possess National Diploma Certificate in Marine Engineering.
Must have a CGPA of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or a recognized institution.
Must be accredited by the NBTE and listed with JAMB.
Applicants must have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii) Additional Qualification:Applicants with ND in Boat and Ship Building Technology with a CGPA not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) are eligible to apply.

iv) Work Experience:Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or;
Must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience.

v) For PASS Grade ND Holders:Must have completed a minimum of two (2) years post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or;
Must have acquired a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience.
C. Maritime Transport and Business Management

i) SSCE Requirements:Must possess SSCE or its equivalent.
Must have a minimum of FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which include:Mathematics
English Language
Economics
Any two (2) of: Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting or Business Management.
Achievements must be obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

ii) ND Requirements:Must possess National Diploma Certificate in Maritime Transport and Business Studies.
Must have a CGPA of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or a recognized institution.
Must be accredited by the NBTE and listed with JAMB.
Applicants must have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii) Work Experience:Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or;
Must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience.

iv) For PASS Grade ND Holders:Must have completed a minimum of two (2) years post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or;
Must have acquired a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience.
2. Transcripts from the Academy

For applicants hailing from other institutions, it’s paramount that their academic transcripts are dispatched to the Office of the Coordinator, Academic Affairs before the application portal’s closing date. Submissions are accepted via email at [email protected].
Physical and Medical Assessment

1) Physical and Mental Fitness Expectation: Due to the unique demands of our institution, the maritime industry, and the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) amendments, all seafarers must be both physically and mentally fit for maritime work. Thus, all applicants should be capable of withstanding the intensity of cadetship training. Selected candidates will be asked to attend a physical and medical examination upon invitation.

2) Medical Examination Form: Candidates should download the Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form must be filled in and signed before being uploaded back onto the portal.

3) Required Medical Tests: Candidates should complete the following medical tests at any government hospital and upload the results to the application portal:PCV
VDRL
HBV
HIV1/2
Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS)
PT (Pregnancy Test, for female candidates)
Urinalysis
Genotype
Blood Group

Note: These tests must be taken between 26th July 2023 and 22nd September 2023. Any uploaded medical test results may be re-verified during the screening process.
