EPL: He has no proven track record – Souness criticizes Man Utd summer signing

Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness has criticized Manchester United summer signing, Rasmus Hojlund, insisting that the 20-year-old has no proven track record.

Hojlund joined Man United from Atalanta for £72 million over the summer.

But Souness believes Man United have taken a massive risk by signing Hojlund as he questioned whether the Danish prodigy possesses the goal-scoring prowess necessary to elevate the performances of Erik ten Hag’s side this season.

“I don’t think Manchester United are going to be any better than they were last season. They have spent £72m on a young centre forward in Rasmus Hojlund, who has not got a great goalscoring record,” Souness told The Express.

“He played 34 games for Atalanta and only hit the back of the net 10 times. Now he’s come to a league where it is really tough to get goals.

“I might be wrong but that is one hell of a gamble for somebody that doesn’t have a proven track record.”

Hojlund scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 34 games for Atalanta prior to his move to Man United.
